A medical assessment and full consultation is necessary before abortion treatment can take place to make sure that it is legal, suitable and safe.
The consultation and medical assessment is usually completed over the telephone, but sometimes takes place in clinic, and we may need to send you for a scan to date your pregnancy. You will be asked a number of questions, on the booking form, to help us decide whether you need an ultrasound scan before we offer treatment. It’s important that you answer the questions honestly and as accurately as you can. Before you start the form, think carefully about the date of your last period.
We will process your request as soon as we can. It is important to keep checking back on your emails regularly for your appointment details. We may need to call you for further information. Please note, the call will come from a withheld number.
We always offer the earliest and most convenient appointment (standby appointments are not available).
Most BPAS abortion treatments are paid for by the NHS
Please have your NHS Number available (ask your GP Practice if you don't know it).
We won't contact your GP without your permission, but we may need to share some personal information with other healthcare providers or organisations in order to provide your care. For example to gain NHS funding or to understand your medical history. Any person receiving your information is bound by strict data protection rules and it will only be used to help you receive the services and support you need. Read more about how we use your information.
All your information will be kept confidential - click here for more information.
Please remember, we are here to support you and trust that you will treat our staff with dignity and respect. We take aggressive behaviour and abuse seriously, meaning where it is experienced, it may impact the care we deliver.
