Some helpful information
What are ‘Patient Stories’?
Simply put, patient stories are where our patients tell us all of the details of their experience in their own words. Whether the details are positive or negative we do not edit or change the story in any way as we need to understand how patients felt throughout their care pathway and what was important to them. Patients can also tell us if they think we can do anything to improve our services in any way.
We share patient stories, and they are always told anonymously. We use this feedback to look at different ways to orgainse our services around the needs and preferences of patients, rather than the needs and preferences of services. The end result is to enhance the patient experience by improving the elements of our services which patients tell us we need to.
Getting started
Some details you may wish to consider:
Was your appointment date arranged at a convenient date and time for you?
Was the booking process easy or difficult in any way?
If you attended a unit, was it difficult to get there?
Did you get the information you needed to prepare you for your appointment/ treatment?
Did you feel involved in decisions about your treatment?
Did you feel comfortable asking questions?
Were all of your questions answered clearly?
Did staff introduce themselves and show kindness?
If you attended with someone for support, were they involved as much as you wanted them to be?
Please do not be concerned about spelling or grammar. You also do not need to tell your story in time order. Start with what you feel was the most ‘stand out’ part of your care and go from there. You are also welcome to include pictures/drawings or symbols to highlight any areas.
Please note that we will provide assistance with editing if you would like us to. Should you prefer to record a video of yourself telling your story this is a powerful way to share your experience, and we can assist you with this also.
